How is the PNB FD interest calculated?
Interest is the income earned on the principal placed in a bank FD. Banks typically use a compounding frequency — interest may be compounded monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or annually depending on the product. Digifinn’s PNB FD Calculator helps you estimate interest and maturity before you open a deposit, using Digifinn’s own estimation method (quarterly compounding for on-maturity payout; simple interest for monthly/quarterly payout).
Which is beneficial — FD monthly or quarterly?
On cumulative (on-maturity) FDs, interest is typically compounded, so the total interest paid at maturity is often higher than the interest paid out monthly or quarterly on a non-cumulative FD of the same amount and stated annual rate — because payout products usually do not reinvest the interest. Digifinn’s calculator lets you switch payout modes to compare estimates. Actual PNB payout rules and compounding method may differ — confirm with the bank.
